No Job For A Girl
Published in 1993, this is almost in a diary format of 1 year in the author's life.
Susan Swaney is still a practicing vet and this book begins with her purchase of the old RSL building in Birregurra, near Victoria's Otways and shares her travels over that year of establishing her practice, working right up to the birth of her 3rd child, those pre-mobile phone era late night farming call outs highlighted in James Herriot books and trying to establish a farm with her husband.
A great book that is a snap-shot of not only the author's life but of our recent past with improvements in communication technology, farming practices that have (and haven't) changed and the prejudice that still lurked in some nooks and crannys towards a female vet.
